Breaking Down the Electric Slide

This first picture is my diagrams from my structure section. This shows the foot steps in the top left. The Rock move in middle left. And breaks down the space made by the jump spin in the bottom. The diagram on the right shows the footwork, structure made by the path of the dance and the repition of the dance

This is the Realtionship section. The top diagram shows the radial symetry of the dance. The middle shows the Balance; showing how all lengths and movements are equal. And this diagram also shows where there are some overlapping and intersecting. The lowest diagram shows the relationship between one section of the dance in comparison to the above diagram.

This shows the scale of the dance. Since the dance is really dependent on the size of the dance, the are differences in scale and cannot be contained by just one set scale. The first two diagrams show this. The lowest diagram shows that where the greatest range and amount of motion that takes place is in each of the corners.

This the Organization section of my diagrams.
The top drawing shows that the dance is in the form of a grid; it also shows the idea of space within a space. This is created by on dancer's path amongst all the other dancers' pathes. The middle diagram shows the intersection between these dancers and how all the space are adjacent. The lowest diagram shows the path of the feet in a single dancers's path. It shows all the different movements of the feet that make up a larger square. So space within a space is the key to the organization.

These above photos show a model representin the ideas of overlapping and adjacent spaces. It also shows the balance.

The above model shows the scale and how it differs in the dance depending on how many dancers there are.

This model shows the structure and movement of the Rock. The model conveys motion and shows how this is an upper body motion.

This is a model showing the footwork of the grapevine move. It shows how there are curved motions that take an extended route in comparison to the other very direct path.

This model shows the energy and structure of the dance. It is an orthagonal shape that is made up of curved pathes and straight pathes to achieve these spaces within a space. It is very energetic and shows the radial symetry of the dance.

This is a detail of the footwork and repition from the Structure section.

The model shows the space made by the jump spin. This shows how there is a space formed just by a quick motion.

This is a detail of the structure and space created by the jump spin.

The Electric Slide

My group and I have learned our dance and I am now coming up with what makes the dance tick. For instance, repetition. The dance is a constant repeating of the same few steps over and over in a square formation. The dance is about a rhythm and consistency and overall order. The dance is orthagonal and is all about a grid-like form. Everyone is moving in the same direction and this forms this grid on the dance floor when the dance is done. People would literally bump into each other if they were all not on the same page. Another key point is that this is a LINE dance. I need to develop my plan around these few ideals:
-Orthagonal
-Lines
-Intersecting and grid-like forms
-Repetition
-Order
-Energetic ( this is after all a party song)
- And balance.

Balance is important because in the dance you move the distance both left, right, and backwards.

Alone in Diagrams

These are my main points in diagram form from Alone. It is based on the strength of light in my structure.

ALONE

This is the final for ALONE. I changed my openings for the thick wall. I also extended the thick wall. I am very proud of this project it turned out better than expected. The space really feels like it holds the meaning of the poem. It both has observation and reflection aspects that are present in the poem. It also has great lighting effects which add to a great reading environment.

From poetry to architecture.

This is my study model for Monday. There have been a few alterations from my last one. The thick wall has been extended. There are still some alterations that are possible, but I am not sure yet which ones i will do.
